No one is completely sure how the Dead Sea was formed, or how it precisely works. In the Old Testament, the biblical cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were located here, in what was once a rich fertile valley. They were subsequently destroyed using fire and brimstone.
Today, the Dead Sea is located in a dry, forbidding, but uniquely beautiful area, the lowest point on the planet, and always warm if not extremely hot. The Dead Sea contains a huge number of minerals and natural compounds. It has always been recognized for its unique healing powers. Perhaps that’s why so many tourists from around the world spend a few days getting specialized treatments using the curative powers of this natural phenomenon.
